Schornstein scored GW's first goal of the season in her first collegiate game during the Colonials' season-opening 3-1 loss to Rutgers Saturday night in Piscataway, NJ. The freshman from Marin, CA, took a pass from fellow freshman Sierra Smidinger and from a couple yards out ripped a shot past the Scarlet Knights' goalie to give GW an early 1-0 lead. As a result of her efforts, Schornstein was nominated for Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors. She leads the team with a goal and two points on the young season.
