George Washington assistant athletics director for sports medicine and training Chris Hennelly is one of six administrators who will serve on the newly formed Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Governance Council, league Commissioner Dan Sharadin announced.

Established with a mandate set forth at the 2012 CWPA Annual Meeting at Villanova University to create governance councils for the collegiate club and varsity ranks of the league, the Varsity Governance Council will oversee the administration of the CWPA's varsity men's and women's programs in cooperation with the organization's Board of Directors, managing competitive issues and league structure.

The Governance Council will be comprised exclusively of sport administrators, and a chair of the council will be elected from the group during a conference call prior to April 15, with the newly elected chair joining the CWPA Board of Directors.

Hennelly, who has been at GW for 18 years, serves as sport administrator for GW's men's and women's water polo teams.
