The George Washington baseball team braved frigid temperatures and a hefty amount of snow to participate in its first full-squad practice of the 2014 season on Saturday morning at Barcroft Park.
After plowing the field of leftover snow from last week's storm, the Colonials
conducted a two-and-a-half hour workout. The session included a situational
scrimmage off of a pitching machine complete with full-speed game action.
Pitchers workouts featured a throwing program along with footwork and agility workouts. They also worked hard to clear the bullpens of snow so they could get in their bullpen sessions.
"The players toughened up a lot on Saturday," said Head Coach Gregg Ritchie. "The excitement of the season is upon us and they had a heck of a good time out there. Extreme attitude and effort were given, which is the culture and character of this program as we watch our youngsters grow."
