Tuesday, Jan. 14 was a special evening for GW Athletics and its men's basketball program. Not only did the Colonials defeat preseason A-10 favorite VCU, 76-66, in front of a sellout crowd of 4,874, but they welcomed back and embraced one of their own in GW alumnus and former men's basketball standout Mike Brey ('82) for his induction as part of the GW Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2014.

Brey, whose Notre Dame Fighting Irish team was in town to play Maryland on Wednesday, motivated the Colonials with a pre-game locker room speech, then was honored in a special halftime ceremony with mother Betty, former GW swimming coach, and wife Tish, a GW volleyball alumna, by his side.

Watch videos below of his induction tribute featuring current GW basketball coaches Mike Lonergan and Jonathan Tsipis, local coaching legend Morgan Wootten, ESPN analysts Digger Phelps and Jay Bilas, and Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski, as well as Fighting Irish Digital Media's recount of the special night.
