@GWGymnastics Names 2015 Captains

Rising seniors Elena Corcoran and Courtney Willoughby have been named the captains of the 2015 George Washington gymnastics team after a team-wide vote at the conclusion of the 2014 spring semester.


On Tuesday, May 20, GW men's basketball Head Coach Mike Lonergan joined his boys from Bowie, The Junkies, at The Prime Rib in Maryland Live! Casino for a taping of Table Manners, a half-hour television show on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic.

Coach Lonergan's taping concluded the third season of Table Manners, with an air date expected this fall.

GW baseball senior Owen Beightol and junior Ryan Xepoleas were each named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team by College Sports Madness on Wednesday.


My Kenyan Adventures

George Washington lacrosse junior Mackenzie Jones has packed up and traveled to Kenya for the next six weeks as she works with Coaches Across Continents - an international non-profit organization that works with local leaders, teachers and sports coaches in developing communities around the world on sports for social change projects.

Since opening in 1975, the Charles E. Smith Center has always been a magnet for the nation's most influential politicians, entertainers and athletes.  Since the facility's transformation in 2010 though, some of the best athletes and franchises in the world have routinely used the Smith Center for practice and training sessions.

This past Saturday, May 10, the Indiana Pacers were the latest team to use the Smith Center as they prepared to face the Washington Wizards at Verizon Center in the NBA Playoffs.

Two GW softball players were named to Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams by College Sports Madness last week, headlined by second baseman Megan Linn, who was tabbed Freshman of the Year.

The website also selected Linn to the All-Conference First Team while placing junior shortstop Victoria Valos on the All-Conference Second Team.

GW men's basketball National Letter of Intent signee Darian Bryant excelled at the Capital Classic's Metro All-Stars East vs. West game at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va., on Saturday, April 26.

The honorable mention Washington Post All-Met and Second Team All-WCAC selection was the Metro East team's second-leading scorer with 18 points in a 126-117 loss to the West.

Bryant is set to join Matt Cimino, Paul Jorgensen, Anthony Swan and Yuta Watanabe as part of the Colonials' incoming freshman class for 2014-15.

The GW Volleyball team is familiar with taking advantage of #OnlyAtGW moments. Last spring, the team got a behind-the-scenes tour of the United States Capitol as special guests of Florida Congressman Vern Buchanan.

Keeping up with the tradition, the Colonials recently competed in a team-wide neighborhood race that had them traversing the Foggy Bottom Campus, National Mall and surrounding D.C. sights.
