Two GW softball players were named to Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams by College Sports Madness last week, headlined by second baseman Megan Linn, who was tabbed Freshman of the Year.
The website also selected Linn to the All-Conference First Team while placing junior shortstop Victoria Valos on the All-Conference Second Team.
Linn set GW rookie records for hits (61), batting average (.370), runs scored (42), RBIs (35) and on-base percentage (.418) while breaking the Colonials' overall single-season mark with a league-best 30 stolen bases. The Corona, California, native ranked seventh in the A-10 with a .370 average and reached base safely in the final 30 games of the season, also a program record. GW's team MVP, Linn finished the year as the second Colonial ever to record at least 60 hits in a season.
Valos batted .355 and slugged .617 with a program-record 19 doubles, which also led the Atlantic 10. She tied for the team lead with six home runs and recorded a team-best 42 RBIs on the year, the third-highest single-season total in program history. The native of Bakersfield, California, matched her own school record with 25 extra-base hits and is the only Colonial ever to record both 50 hits and 30 RBIs three times in her career.
Linn and Valos were each named to the A-10 All-Conference Second Team by the league's head coaches on Tuesday.
