GW baseball senior Owen Beightol and junior Ryan Xepoleas were each named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team by College Sports Madness on Wednesday.
Both players concluded the season with a team-leading batting average of .337 and tied for the team lead with two home runs apiece.
Beightol posted career-high marks in batting average, runs (31), hits (65), doubles (14), slugging percentage (.440) and on-base percentage (.380) to lead GW's offense. The Richmond, Virginia, native was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team on Tuesday and concludes his career among GW's all-time top five for games played (213, T-2nd) and at-bats (797, 3rd) while ranking ninth with 234 career hits.
Xepoleas shined in his debut season at GW, starting all 50 games in center field and totaling 11 doubles, three triples, a team-high 27 RBIs, 14 walks and 12 stolen bases in addition to his .337 batting average.
The Del Oro, California, native had a 14-game hit streak during the season which ties him for the third longest streak in the Atlantic 10 this season and just one game shy of the program record. Xepoleas was also named the 2014 Jackie Robinson Award recipient last month and will return for his senior season in 2015.
