My Kenyan Adventures

George Washington lacrosse junior Mackenzie Jones has packed up and traveled to Kenya for the next six weeks as she works with Coaches Across Continents - an international non-profit organization that works with local leaders, teachers and sports coaches in developing communities around the world on sports for social change projects.

Over the next month, Jones will help put together sports-based curriculums that teach key messages on topics such as HIV and AIDS awareness, female empowerment and gender equality, in addition to conflict-resolution and literacy programs. Jones and her Coaches Across Continents contingent will travel to five different cities - Homa Bay, Migori, Nairobi, Marsabit and Likoni - to help train coaches and teachers on how to run their sports programs while catering to each city's specific needs.

Follow Mackenzie's journey through Kenya via her My Kenyan Adventures blog.
