The Grassroots Project, a community-service initiative that is close to the heart of George Washington student-athletes, is currently running its holiday fundraising campaign and is seeking donations from the Washington, D.C., community to reach its goal of $14,000 by January 1.
The George Washington lacrosse team is dedicated to making a direct impact within the local community. For the past three years, the team has run a Thanksgiving Day basket collection within the GW Department of Athletics and Recreation.
Every Monday afternoon a group of GW student-athletes from the baseball and softball teams head over to Fort DuPont Park, located in SE Washington, D.C., to play some ball and help mentor young children. It is an opportunity for the student-athletes to introduce the sport they love to children while also passing on valuable life lessons they have learned from playing the game.
