Sophomore Lida Koskina has been named GW's Community Service Student-Athlete of the Month for her dedication to serving the community during the month of March.
A member of the women's soccer team, Koskina has volunteered with the GW Emergency Medical Response Group (EMeRG), a student-run organization that provides free basic life support services to the GW and Foggy Bottom community.
As an emergency medical technician (EMT), Koskina performs basic first aid, CPR/AED, and tests the vital functions of those in need of ambulatory care before being transferred to nurses and doctors in an emergency room. Koskina's work with EMeRG also includes training new members, teaching first aid classes and serving as a primary emergency responder at community events.
In addition to her individual service projects, Koskina has joined her women's soccer teammates to serve the community.
"Giving back to the community means a lot to me," said Koskina. "It enables me to help those in need."
