George Washington men's rowing sophomore Bob Hobert has been named GW's Community Service Student-Athlete of the month for February for his involvement in various organizations in the D.C. community.

In February, Hobert volunteered for the Special Olympics, where he organized bowling practices for the athletes. He also volunteered with Jumpstart, which provides aid and teaching to underfunded schools in the D.C. area. Hobert recently signed up to volunteer with GW's The Store, which is a student-run food pantry that provides food to students struggling with food insecurity.

"I am motivated to help the community because of its rewards. Personally, I feel a sense of selflessness, doing something that benefits another and not yourself."

Hobert hopes his positive impact on the community will encourage others to get involved as well.

"There is always more work to be done in the community!"
