This past weekend, the George Washington gymnastics team participated in the annual Buddy Walk held at George Mason. The event is a fun walk and carnival that raises money to help provide people with Down syndrome with educational, financial, medical, legal and social resources.

All of the proceeds were donated to the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV), an organization that specifically works to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome and their families receive the support necessary to achieve fulfillment of life in their community.

The gymnastics team contributed by participating in the walk, as well as by helping out with running the bounce houses, face painting stations, and petting zoo.

"We try to make it to this walk each year because it is probably one of our favorites," said junior Yurina Harada. "Our team really has a way of entertaining kids, and each of us really enjoy it."

This year's race had a total of 1,633 participants and has raised over $175,000 for DSANV. Donations are still being accepted. For more information, visit the DSANV Buddy Walk website.
