Jan. 8, 2007
Rice averaged 20 points and eight rebounds per game in GW's two victories this week. He matched his career high with 23 points in GW's pulsating come-from-behind 74-65 victory over Marshall Saturday. The junior guard from Philadelphia shot 8-12 from the field and added 10 rebounds to key the Colonials' rally from a 21-point deficit against the Thundering Herd for his second career double-double, both this season.
As a result of his outstanding play, Rice was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week for men's basketball, the league office announced Sunday. It marks Rice's first A-10 weekly honor this season. In GW's A-10 opener against Fordham Jan. 3, Rice scored a game-high 17 points with a team-high six rebounds and three steals to help lift the Colonials to the 70-59 victory.
