Feb. 25, 2013
NAME: Oliver Keegan
Freshman Oliver Keegan made a splash at his first collegiate Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships last week as he made three trips to the podium and was a part of all four of the Colonials' record-setting performances.
Keegan led the way as he came from behind in the 200-yard butterfly to claim gold and not only break the GW record, but set a new all-time conference record as well with a time of 1:48.1. Keegan originally snapped the school record, which remained at 1:50.58 since 1999, in the preliminary heat of the 200 fly when he touched the wall in 1:50.45. Keegan also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:27.93 and was a member of both record-setting 200-medley (1:31.32) and 800-free (6:36.75) relays. The 800-free relay finished in third on opening day and served as Keegan’s first-ever A-10 medal.
