Colonials of the Week - GW Gymnastics
Colonials Conclude Season with Best-Ever Postseason Team Score
The George Washington gymnastics team posted its best-ever postseason score with a 195.550 at last weekend's NCAA Athens Regional at Stegeman Coliseum.
GW's team score is the program's best-ever mark in 12 appearances at NCAA Regionals and nearly a full point higher than the previous best, which was 194.675 at the 2001 Southeast Regional. The Colonials also improved upon their score from the 2015 Auburn Regional by 1.40 points.
At the conclusion of the meet, head coach Margie Foster-Cunningham was named the NCAA Southeast Region Coach of the Year for the second year in a row after leading the Colonials to a 26-6 regular-season record. Under her guidance, the Colonials boasted a major East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) award winner for the third consecutive season when sophomore Cami Drouin-Allaire was named the conference's Gymnast of the Year. The Colonials also had 12 gymnasts earn All-EAGL honors.
