Senior Rachael Bentley became GW women's water polo's all-time leading goal scorer as she helped lead the Colonials to a 2-1 weekend against Southern Division rivals with nine goals and seven assists. She scored nine points on five goals and four assists and added a career-high four steals in GW's 13-5 win over Mercyhurst. The nine points equal the second-highest single-game total in program history. Bentley then scored four goals in GW's 8-7 victory over Bucknell, including all three of the Colonials' markers in the decisive fourth quarter, tying the game with 51 seconds left and netting the game-winner at the buzzer. Bentley shot 69 percent (9-for-13) on the weekend, scoring on all five attempts against the Lakers.
Already GW's all-time leader in assists (186) and points (359), Bentley became GW's all-time leading scorer with 173 career goals on Saturday, surpassing Morgan Hooker's previous mark of 170 set from 2004-07. This season, the Riverside, Calif., native leads the Colonials with 87 points - the fifth-highest single-season total in program history - on 42 goals and 45 assists.
