The George Washington men's tennis team won its third consecutive Atlantic 10 crown on Sunday after defeating VCU in the championship match for the third straight year.

The Colonials reached their seventh consecutive conference final after blanking both Duquesne and Richmond, 4-0, in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, respectively.

On Sunday, the Buff and Blue won a crucial doubles point to jump out to an early lead before outlasting VCU in singles play. Sophomore Chris Reynolds and junior Julius Tverijonas won their solo matches, but VCU knotted the score at 3-3.

After falling in the first set, senior Cahit Kapukiran went the distance for a dramatic comeback win to clinch the crown for the Colonials, securing the A-10's automatic bid to the NCAA Team Championship. The Colonials learn where and when they will next play during the NCAA Selection Show on May 3 at 5 :30 p.m.
