Freshman Michael Heda and junior Jack Persons both posted top-10 finishes at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship, tying for ninth place with 12-over-par 225 totals to help lead the Colonials to a third-place team finish at the event after being predicted to finish seventh in the pre-tournament poll.

Heda fired his tournament-low 1-over 72 to lead GW to a sub-300 team score in the final round of the championship on Sunday. It was his first collegiate top-10 showing and he concluded his rookie campaign with a team-best 75.48 scoring average.

Persons recorded the best score in the 50-player field during Saturday's second round with a 2-under 69 en route to receiving A-10 All-Conference honors. It marked Persons' fourth career top-10 finish, and he became just the eighth GW golfer to earn All-Atlantic 10 recognition.
