214 Student-Athletes Named to A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll
Women's rowing and women's swimming led the way for GW with 23 selections each
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Thursday that 214 GW student-athletes were among the league's 3,168 who earned 2017-18 Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction, which recognizes excellence in the classroom.
This marks the first time the Commissioner's Honor Roll has been based on the entire academic year. Previously the award was granted following each semester. To be selected for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and freshmen are eligible to receive the award.
The 3,168 student-athletes is the highest number of unique honorees in a single year. In previous years, the Commissioner's Honor Roll number was calculated by combining the fall and spring semester totals.
Women's rowing and women's swimming led the way for GW with 23 selections each and were followed closely by women's cross country/track (22), women's soccer (19) and men's cross country/track (19).
