June 18, 2009
PHILADELPHIA, PA-- A total of 81 student-athletes from The George Washington University have made the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2009 semester, as announced by A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade Thursday. The A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes its student-athletes who have achieved a 3.5 grade-point-average or higher.
"We are proud of the priority that our student-athletes place upon their academic responsibilities and the effort they put forth to succeed at such a high level in that area," said Karen Ercole, GW's Director of Academic Support Services. "We appreciate that the A-10 recognizes those achievements and congratulate our student-athletes, as well as those at the other A-10 schools, for their excellence in the classroom."
The women's soccer team led the way with 14 members qualifying for the league honor roll for a second consecutive semester. The Colonials women's swimming and rowing teams each had nine players named to the list.
The Commissioner's Honor Roll is announced at the end of each semester and consists of student-athletes with GPA's of 3.5 or higher for that semester. Prior to 2004, an annual honor roll was announced consisting of student-athletes with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.
The Spring 2009 A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll is comprised of 1,164 total student-athletes from the 14 member institutions of the conference.
