June 19, 2007
PHILADELPHIA, PA -- George Washington University had a total of 85 student-athletes qualify for the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2007 semester, as announced by the league office on June 19. The A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in the conference who have achieved a 3.5 grade-point-average or higher.
"It is an honor to recognize these student-athletes who truly exemplify what the college experience is all about," says A-10 Commissioner Linda Bruno. "Their commitment to excellence on and off the playing field is inspiring and should serve as an example to all."
The Colonials' men's and women's soccer (combined), and men's and women's swimming/diving (combined), and women's rowing teams had double-digit representatives on the Spring Honor Roll. The women's rowing program once again paced GW with 16 members qualifying for the league honor roll.
In the Fall of 2004, the Presidents Council of the Atlantic 10 Conference changed the parameters of the Commissioner's Honor Roll. In its current form, the Honor Roll is announced at the end of each semester and consists of student-athletes with GPA's of 3.5 or higher for that semester. Prior to the Fall of 2004, one annual honor roll was announced which consisted of student-athletes with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.
The Spring 2007 A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll is comprised of 1,118 total student-athletes from the 14 member institutions of the conference.
*Totals do not include sports in which the Atlantic 10 does not sponsor championships: Gymnastics, Squash, Water Polo and Men's Rowing.
