NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on Friday that 105 George Washington student-athletes were among the league's 1,618 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the spring 2013 semester.
The 105 A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honorees cap a banner academic year in which GW Athletics posted a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average, an all-time Athletics Department high, all while serving more than 7,600 hours of community service in 2012-13.
"We are extremely proud of the way our student-athletes continue to represent our department and our university through their hard work in the classroom and community," said Associate Athletics Director for Educational Support Services Karen Ercole. "We congratulate them on achieving this prestigious academic honor."
The 105 Colonials honored this spring surpassed the 102 awardees from the fall of 2012. It also marks the fourth straight semester that the total number of GW honorees has exceeded the previous semester.
To earn Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must possess a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale. The 105 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll is the most for GW since the spring 2011 semester.
