PHILADELPHIA, PA -- George Washington University had a total of 86 student-athletes qualify for the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2006 semester, as announced by the league office on July 10. The A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in the conference who have achieved a 3.5 grade-point-average or higher.

"It is an honor to recognize these student-athletes who truly exemplify what the college experience is all about," says A-10 Commissioner Linda Bruno. "Their commitment to excellence on and off the playing field is inspiring and should serve as an example to all."

The Colonials' men's and women's soccer (combined), and men's and women's swimming/diving (combined), and women's rowing teams had double-digit representatives on the Spring Honor Roll. The women's rowing program once again paced GW with 21 members qualifying for the league honor roll, including three student-athletes which had a 4.0 GPA for the spring semester. GW placed 87 student-athletes on the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2005 semester.

In the Fall of 2004, the Presidents Council of the Atlantic 10 Conference changed the parameters of the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Now, the Honor Roll will be announced at the end of each semester and will consist of student-athletes with GPA's of 3.5 or higher for that semester. Prior to this year, one annual honor roll was announced which consisted of student-athletes with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher.

The A-10 Spring 2006 Commissioner's Honor Roll is comprised of 1,070 total student-athletes from the 14 members of the conference.
