WASHINGTON - The season-ticket holder renewal period for George Washington men's and women's basketball begins today, July 16. Renewal applications will be mailed next week and fans will have until Friday, August 24 to guarantee their seats. New season-ticket holder applications are also currently being accepted.

Tickets for men's games will include an exhibition game plus all 14 regular-season home contests at the Charles E. Smith Center, highlighted by a visit from Big 12 foe Kansas State on Dec. 8 and a date with Atlantic 10 newcomer Butler once conference play begins in January.

"We've put together a non-conference schedule very similar in difficulty to what we faced last season in an effort to help prepare our team for what promises to be one of the toughest conferences in the country in 2013 in the Atlantic 10," said second-year head coach Mike Lonergan. "I'm very excited to test our team in front of our loyal fans at the Smith Center against the likes of Kansas State, along with improving programs like Youngstown State and VMI, not to mention the caliber of competition across the A-10."

Along with season tickets being available for 15 men's home dates, season seats for the GW women's basketball team under new head coach Jonathan Tsipis are now available. Coach Tsipis, who comes to Foggy Bottom off of back-to-back national championship game appearances as associate head coach at Notre Dame, was hired in April and his team's 2012-13 schedule will be announced later this summer.

GW's men's team played a schedule last season which was rated in the Top 60 in the NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), and will face a total of 13 postseason teams between its non-conference and Atlantic 10 schedules in 2012-13, including seven 2012 NCAA Tournament participants in Kansas State, Notre Dame, Saint Louis, St. Bonaventure, Temple, VCU and Xavier. Coach Lonergan's alma mater Catholic, whom he led to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2001, will also visit Smith Center this season when the Cardinals travel across the city for an exhibition on Nov. 3.

GW welcomes back several key lettermen in 2012-13 including Lasan Kromah, Dwayne Smith, John Kopriva, David Pellom, Nemanja Mikic and Bryan Bynes. Those returners will be joined by a sextet of newcomers brought in under Coach Lonergan in Villanova-transfer Isaiah Armwood, incoming freshmen and Washington Post All-Met guards Joe McDonald and Kethan Savage, and international prospects Kevin Larsen (Denmark), Paris Maragkos (Greece) and Patricio Garino (Argentina).

The Colonials women's team is loaded with experience with graduate students Tara Booker, Sara Mostafa and Brooke Wilson, and seniors Danni Jackson, Megan Nipe and Shi-Heria Shipp back to lead GW in 2012-13. Coach Tsipis will also have a talented quartet of freshmen in Dalacy Anderson, Aaliyah Brown, Alexis Chandler and Anjaleace White.
