Lauren Whyte posted consecutive double-doubles to help the George Washington volleyball teams to season-opening victories over district rivals American and George Mason in the DC Challenge on Aug. 26-27.

Whyte registered 19 kills and 14 digs as the Colonials knocked off American 3-1 on Friday night in front of 2,155 fans at AU's Bender Arena, the largest collegiate volleyball crowd in Washington, DC history. The win also snapped AU's 19-match home winning streak, the seventh-longest streak in the nation.

On Saturday against George Mason, Whyte slammed 22 kills in addition to 12 digs two block assists and one service ace.

Whyte's stats for the week: 8 sets played, 41 kills, .193 attack percentage, 26 digs, two blocks, one service ace.
