Colonial of the Week
Sept. 8, 2009
Cole Turner matched his career-low round of 67 in Sunday's second round to tie for seventh in the 65-player field in the season-opening Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate at Verona, NY. As a team, GW tied for seventh in the 13-team event which was played Sunday and Monday at the 7,105-yard, par 72 Kaluhyat Golf Course. With a slope of 150, Kaluhyat is rated the most difficult course in the state of New York, which includes Bethpage Black, two-time host of the U.S. Open. Turner finished with an eight-over-par 224 (81-67-76). His 67 on Sunday was the lowest of the 195 total rounds played in the tournament. He also turned in a 67 in the first round of the 2008 ODU-Seascape Invitational last October.
