GW senior co-captain Lewis Sturdy carded his career-low round of 68 Friday and shot a second-round 70 Saturday to win the season-opening Navy Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the par-71, 6,611-yard Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, MD. Sturdy, whose four-under-par 138 is a new GW record for a low 36-hole tournament score, won the event by a stroke and helped GW to its first tournament victory since the 2006 Rehoboth Beach Invitational. Sturdy's victory was the first by a GW individual since 2006. His 10 birdies was the most in the 90-player field and he also had an eagle. For his efforts, he was named the A-10 Conference Performer of the Week for men's golf.
