Colonial of the Week - GW Student-Athlete Alumni
Former Student-Athletes Were Back at GW for Alumni Weekend
The Colonial of the Week Award goes to the 150-plus former student-athletes who were back on campus last weekend to show their pride and passion for the Buff and Blue, as part of George Washington's Alumni Weekend.
The alumni gathered for a number of athletic competitions, tailgates, a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new softball field, and an All-Athletics Alumni reception on Saturday afternoon. Alumni watched matches for the men's soccer team, volleyball, softball, rowing and water polo, while themselves participated in a number of events, including a pregame tailgate prior to the current volleyball team's game, a swimming and diving banquet and alumni meet, an alumni "fun run" with the GW cross country team, a tennis round robin, men's and women's alumni soccer match, a 50th anniversary reception for the men's soccer team, a sailing team regatta on the Potomac, the fourth annual Gymnastics Career Initiative where gymnastics alumna discussed their careers with present-day GW gymnasts, and a slow-pitch softball game of alumna versus current GW softball players. Thanks to all the alumni for helping GW Raise High!
