Rookie Posts Pair of Top Finishes in Collegiate Debut

Rookie Jackie Torrez posted two first-place finishes over the weekend in her collegiate debut to help the Colonials defeat Davidson and UNC-Asheville in the squad's two-day season opener. Both of her top finishes ranked within the program's all-time top 10 list.
On Friday, Torrez won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:06.30 to jump to fifth on the program's all-time top 10 list. The freshman grabbed another race victory on Saturday in the 400 IM in 4:33.54 to rank ninth on GW's all-time list.
The Whittier, California, native added four more top-five performances to her stellar weekend, including a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 200 and 400 medley relays. Individually, Torrez finished second in the 200 breaststroke and fifth in the 100 breast to wrap her first weekend as a Colonial.
