GW Named `Best College Team' in Express Survey
Men's Basketball Coach Karl Hobbs Polls Second in `Best Coach' Category

WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington was voted Best College Team in a recent poll conducted by Express, a newpaper produced by The Washington Post. In the Oct. 22 edition of the Express, the `Best of 2010' poll revealed that GW is D.C.'s fan favorite. In the same poll, GW head coach Karl Hobbs placed second in the voting for best coach behind Washington Capitals' coach Bruce Boudreau.
Hobbs will lead the Colonials in a preseason exhibition game against Bowie State on Sat., Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at Charles E. Smith Center located at 22nd & G Streets, NW, two blocks south of the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro station on the Orange and Blue lines. GW opens the regular season on Nov. 16 against Boston University in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Villanova University.
The Colonials, 16-15 (6-10 A-10) in 2009-10, return four starters in senior C Joseph Katuka, junior guards Tony Taylor and Aaron Ware, and sophomore guard Lasan Kromah. They will be joined by seven other returnees and the 2010 recruiting class. NBA veteran Donyell Marshall also joins the GW coaching staff in 2010. This season, fans will be greeted by a renovated Smith Center with an all-new exterior, updated concessions concourses and a refurbished box office. In the arena, a larger new state-of-the-art Daktronics scoreboard display will enhance the spectator experience with high-resolution replays and live game stats.
