GW Thinks Pink T-Shirt Sales Raise $4,500 for Breast Cancer Research
Women's Tennis Team Wins T-Shirt Sales Competition

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington women's athletic teams are uniting during the 2009-10 season to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research through the GW Women's Athletics Thinks Pink Initiative. GW women's teams have already kicked off the campaign by raising an initial $4,500 for cancer research by selling T-shirts in a competition between the teams.
Women's teams were given a month to sell as many T-shirts as possible to raise money for breast cancer research. The first, second and third place teams with the highest number of T-shirts sold per student-athlete will receive prize money that will go toward their team's operating budget, courtesy of Colonial Challenge.
The top three teams which sold the most shirts relative to team size were:
1. Women's Tennis
2. Women's Rowing
3. Women's Water Polo
In first place, the 11-member GW women's tennis team sold an impressive 148 T-shirts, an average of 13.5 shirts per student-athlete. In second place, the GW women's rowing team sold an average of 11 shirts per student-athlete, while the women's water polo team sold an average of eight. These teams will be awarded prize money from Colonial Challenge in the amounts of $200, $150 and $100, respectively.
Fans who did not get a chance to purchase an official "GW Women's Athletics Thinks Pink" T-shirt can do so at any of the Pink games this year, including this Friday's women's volleyball "Dig Pink" game at 7:00 pm at Charles E.
