Colonial of the Week
Nov. 5, 2007
Whittam was outstanding in net as the GW men's water polo team took third place at the CWPA Southern Division Championship this past weekend, which earned the program a spot in the Eastern Championship for the first time since 2003. Whittam made 13 saves and allowed just four goals as the Colonials upset nationally ranked No. 17 Bucknell, 6-4, Saturday to assure itself of at least a top-4 finish at the event. Whittam began the tournament with five saves in a 15-10 victory against Washington & Jefferson Saturday, then added seven more in Sunday's 7-6 loss to eventual runner-up Johns Hopkins. His 262 saves so far this year ranks third all-time in program history, just four behind second place and 44 behind the leader.
