Jill Levey Leads Verizon Academic All-America District 2 Volleyball Team

WASHINGTON, DC (Nov. 16) Senior Jill Levey (Bakersfield, CA/Stockdale) has been selected to the Verizon Academic All-America District 2 Team as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She is joined by seven outstanding student-athletes from the Mid-Atlantic region. All eight qualify for the national ballot for the Academic All-America team to be announced on Dec. 12.

Levey won Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week for volleyball after the first week of the season and has led the Colonials to the A-10 regular-season title and top seed in the A-10 championship tournament, Nov. 18-19, at the University of Dayton.

An All-Atlantic 10 Conference selection in 1998, Levey maintains a 3.80 grade-point average as a speech and hearing science major. This season, she is averaging 11.92 assists, 1.04 kills, 3.49 digs and .57 blocks per game while sporting a .405 hitting percentage. She has been named to the all-tournament teams at the Chesapeake Invitational and American Volleyball Classic tournaments this season.

The two-time team MVP ranks second on GW's all-time career assists list with 3,877 assists and also is second on the school's career digs list with 1,332.

GW (23-5, 14-2 A-10) plays host Dayton in the first round of the A-10 tournament Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Dayton's Frericks Center. The championship final takes place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday against the winner of the Temple-Xavier match.
