Skjelbred was a defensive force this weekend, totaling 17.0 blocks, as the George Washington volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with a pair of wins over Fordham and Rhode Island to extend its win streak to six matches and clinch the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in this weekend's Atlantic 10 Championship. For her efforts, she was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
The Bodo, Norway, native totaled 10 kills, five digs and four block assists in Friday's 3-1 win over Fordham.
In Sunday's win at Rhode Island, which ensured GW of its best regular season since 2000, Skjelbred posted career-high totals of three solo blocks and 10 block assists in addition to nine kills and four digs.
For the week she averaged 2.11 kills, 1.89 blocks and 1.00 digs per set.
