Mavis sparked GW men's water polo to its first MAWPC title

Mavis helped George Washington men's water polo claim its first conference title last weekend, posting 10 goals over three wins at the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship.
The sophomore center was named the tournament's most valuable player after Sunday's 8-5 win over Wagner in the championship final. Earlier in the week, he was named to the All-MAWPC First Team.
Mavis scored a team-high three goals in Friday's 10-7 win over Gannon to start the tournament. On Saturday, the New Jersey native netted six goals, including the game-winner with five seconds left in overtime, to help the Colonials come back and defeat Fordham, 16-15. He added another score in the final victory that secured the program's first NCAA Tournament berth.
For the season, Mavis leads GW with 80 goals in 28 games. He's also drawn a team-leading 74 ejections.
