Colonial of the Week - GW Student Body
A Season-High Crowd Packed the Smith Center for the Annual BUFF OUT Game
Dec. 10, 2012
Bolstered by hundreds of students, student-athletes, alumni and fans, the GW Student Body is the recipient of this week's Colonial of the Week award.
A season-high crowd packed the Charles E. Smith Center for Saturday's BUFF OUT game against Kansas State, providing the men's basketball team a home-court advantage and displaying an exciting college basketball atmosphere to a national television audience on CBS Sports Network.
Supported by members of the swimming team in Speedos and men's water polo team in holiday sweaters, as well as numerous GW Alumni and members of the GW Student Association and Greek Life, the GW Student Body was instrumental in creating an exciting environment to support the Colonials in their near upset of the Wildcats.
Both GW Coach Mike Lonergan and K-State Coach Bruce Weber noted the energy in the arena in post-game comments. The Colonial Army played a huge part in achieving an impressive showing of both numbers and enthusiasm for GW that will hopefully continue throughout the basketball season.
