1997 ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE
Kathryn A. (Kas) Allen was a four-year letterwinner in women's basketball and is the first player from that very successful GW team sport to be elected. She ranks among the program's best in career points (1,502) and rebounds (878), and can be found in 15 other individual offensive and defensive categories.
Allen, who averaged 22.4 points and earned both Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team and A-10 "Rookie of the Year" honors as a freshman, rallied to recover from a career-threatening back injury in 1984. After sitting out the '85 season following surgery, she returned to excel for three more seasons ('86-88).
Recruited to GW as a premier local student-athlete from Wakefield High School in nearby Arlington, Va., she also earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honorable mention in 1987. Allen, a physical therapist, lives in Los Angeles.
