Boyer joined GW from the University of Maryland-College Park, where he served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operations. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing marketing and sponsor services, media relations, ticket sales, multimedia production/video services, and four athletics programs: men's and women's soccer, softball and wrestling. He led negotiations for the department's apparel and outfitting partnership with Under Armour and the novelty concessions contract with Barnes and Noble; chaired the athletics department's strategic planning process and served as the department's liaison with multimedia rights-holder CBS Collegiate Sports Properties and website provider CBS Interactive - Sports.
Prior to his service at Maryland, Boyer served from 2001 to 2004 as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Sponsor Services at Northwestern University and from 2004-2006 as Northwestern's Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs. He helped develop the university's long-range strategic plan for athletics, while also overseeing the athletic department's Marketing and Sponsor Services and Media Services divisions, as well as five of the department's 19 varsity programs.
Prior to Northwestern, Boyer worked as a marketing and public relations manager at the former FANSonly Network (currently CBS Interactive - Sports). He also has held positions in athletics marketing at Villanova University and West Virginia University.
Boyer is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and public relations and West Virginia University, where he earned a Master of Science in sport management. He is married to Kyle Lubrano Boyer, who works for U.S. Lacrosse.
