Caitlyn Johnson came to GW as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2016. She currently works with the softball, and men's and women's tennis teams. A native of Haymarket, Virginia, Johnson earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training at James Madison University in 2013 and her master's in athletic training from the University of Virginia in 2014. While pursuing her master's degree at UVA, Johnson was a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the softball team.
After graduating from UVA, Johnson worked for Ferrum College, a Division III college in Virginia, where she was the head football athletic trainer and was also responsible for the wrestling, men's and women's swimming, and baseball teams. In addition to her clinical responsibilities at Ferrum, she served as the Region 6 Representative on the Executive Board of the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association for two years. She also co-chaired the Colleges and Universities Athletic Trainers' Committee, and the Honors and Awards Committee for the VATA.
Johnson is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. She is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Virginia, and is CPR/First Aid certified through the American Heart Association.
