Former Assistant AD at Oregon to Head GW Athletics' External Relations
As Senior Associate AD at GW, Klassy will coordinate all aspects of Athletics External Relations, including development, corporate sponsorships, sports marketing, ticket sales and communications.
Klassy most recently served as Assistant Athletic Director and Director of the Duck Athletic Fund at Oregon since 2007, leading the operations and staff of the DAF, Ticket Office and Sales Departments as well as serving as a senior staff member on the Duck Leadership Team.
Klassy was in charge of soliciting gifts of $25,000 and higher as part of a larger management team that has raised more than $140 million for the Oregon Athletics Legacy Fund. He also helped expand Duck Athletic Fund resources by over $5 million and achieve record levels for fund membership and giving the past five years.
Klassy began his tenure at Oregon as Assistant Athletic Director for Tickets and Regional Director of Development from 2005 to 2007. He oversaw all ticket sales and operations of the athletic ticket office, helped implement a new electronic/digital ticketing system and led ticketing contract negotiations with Paciolan and the Associated Students of the University of Oregon.
Prior to Oregon, Klassy was Assistant Director of Ticket Operations at the University of Alabama from 2001-05, and Director of Ticket Operations at Tulane University from 2000-01. He has also held positions at the Louisiana Superdome and New Orleans Arena, and worked game-day ticket operations at four Super Bowls, two Sugar Bowls, a Major League Baseball All-Star Game and NCAA College World Series.
Klassy received his bachelor's degree in communication arts in 1998 from the University of Wisconsin, where he spent four years as an intern with the Badgers' Athletic Ticket Office.
