GW Highlights:
Perno was hired at The George Washington University on Nov. 1, 1997. Now in his 13th year, Perno has raised thousands for the department by directing the expansion of the Athletic Director's Club and the Colonials Club, the annual golf tournament, black tie galas, and other very entertaining fundraisers.

Prior to GW:
Prior to joining the George Washington staff, Perno was Vice President for Sales & Marketing at the Roland Dumont Group, Inc., in Bristol, CT. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Perno spent 18 years involved with the basketball program as a player, assistant coach and head coach. Perno was instrumental in elevating the stature of the Husky program with the inception of the Big East Conference. During his tenure at UConn, his teams registered three consecutive 20-win seasons and compiled a record of 139-114 (.549) in his nine seasons as head coach. Under Perno, the Huskies posted both NCAA Tournament and NIT appearances.

Perno has also worked as a television broadcaster, serving as a color analyst for the Big East Conference Television Network, guest analyst for Hartford's WFSB-TV during the NCAA Tournament, and as color analyst for ESPN's international broadcast of the National Basketball Association. Prior to coaching at UConn, Perno coached at South Catholic High School in Hartford, CT. He was then named Director of Athletics and Head Basketball Coach at St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol, CT, prior to his appointment as assistant coach at Connecticut, replacing Jim Valvano. Perno graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, CT, where he was named All-America and MVP of the Connecticut state tournament his senior season. He was also named All-State two consecutive seasons, during which his teams won 49 consecutive games.

Personal:
Perno and his wife, Cynthia, have two sons, Dominic and Matthew, a daughter, Holly, son-in-law, Cosmo Smith, daughters-in-law Geraldine and Michelle, granddaughters Isabella Perno and Phoebe Smith and step-grandson Salvatore Adinolfi. The Pernos reside in Alexandria, VA.
