Brian Sereno is in his seventh year as Assistant Athletics Director/Athletics Communications at the George Washington University. Sereno came to the university from the Washington Wizards, where he served as Director of Basketball Communications.
An alumnus of the GW School of Business master's program in sports management, Brian oversees the development and execution of all athletics communications and public relations, including serving as the lead spokesperson for the Department of Athletics and Recreation, developing and overseeing communications strategy for GW's 27 intercollegiate sports, club and intramural sports and health and wellness programs, and advising Department of Athletics and university leadership on communications strategies and tactics, for both internal and external audiences. He also serves as the sport administrator for the sailing program and is a senior member of the Department of Athletics External Operations team which oversees all revenue generating opportunities. Additionally Sereno spearheads all external television and radio broadcast relationships for GW Athletics including the negotiation of contracts.
As Director of Basketball Communications for the Washington Wizards, Sereno served as a team spokesperson and communications strategist, traveling with the team and directing the day-to-day operations of the communications department, including planning and executing press conferences and media events and providing daily media relations and communications support for coaches, players, management and other departments within the organization. An eight-year veteran of the Wizards, Sereno also was involved in developing the Wizards' online and social media strategy and content.
Sereno is a graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing.
