Steven Farmer was named Assistant Athletic Director for Development at George Washington in November 2013. Farmer has been working in intercollegiate athletics for more than 14 years, with over 12 in athletic development.

As Assistant Athletic Director of Development, Farmer will oversee all aspects of development, including major gifts, stewardship and the Buff and Blue Fund.

Farmer comes to GW from the University of Georgia Athletic Association, where he most recently served as the Director of Capital Support. He started his career at Georgia as a major gifts officer. Farmer oversaw the scholarship endowment program, capital projects and a successful $65 million comprehensive campaign while at UGA. He was also heavily involved in the annual fund and helped restructure the priority seating program.

Prior to Georgia, Farmer held several positions at Tulane University in New Orleans, La. He started in 1999 as an intern in the business office and was promoted to Assistant Business Manager after six months. He then moved to Development as a Revenue Officer, later being promoted to Director of the Tulane Athletics Fund.

Farmer received his BBA in finance from Georgia in 1998 and a M.Ed in sports management in 2000, also from Georgia. While in school, Farmer was a student manager and graduate assistant with the Georgia football program.
