Role at GW:
Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the athletic facilities, operations and event management for the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center and the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.
GW Highlights:
Jason Wilson was hired as Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities in the summer of 2006. He has contributed greatly to the growth of the department's facilities. Specifically he assisted in the design and the construction of the Theodore and Annette Lerner Health & Wellness Center as well as the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex. Additionally, he has coordinated numerous renovations for the facilities such as the installation of the 10mm video scoreboard and its operating control room. Also, he managed the installation and upgrade of premium seating as well as the overhaul of the student bleachers. In Spring 2006 after eight years of facilitating the unified commencement ceremonies on the Ellipse near the White House, Wilson supervised the University's first unified commencement held on the National Mall between the United States Capitol Building and the Washington Monument which was attended by over 25,000 graduates, family members, and guests including former President and First Lady George and Barbara Bush. Most recently, Wilson played an integral role in securing the largest philanthropic gift in the University's history of $10 million dollars and as a result will oversee a multi-million dollar renovation of the Charles E. Smith Center.
Wilson is an active member of several professional organizations: International Association of Arena Managers (IAAM), and two organizations within the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors (NACDA): the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) and the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA). Furthermore in May 2008, Wilson was one of 23 athletics administrators chosen for the highly selective 2008-09 Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females by the NCAA.
Prior to GW:
Wilson served in active duty in the United States Navy where he received an honorable discharge after serving in the first gulf war Dessert Shield/Dessert Storm. He then attended GW on a NROTC scholarship.
