1979 ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE Matt Zunic, was GW's leading scorers as a junior (1940-1941) when he averaged 11.5 ppg on a 17-4 team and as a senior (1941-42) when he averaged 13.3 on an 11-9 club. His 266 points as a senior was the highest number then recorded by a GW player in a single season. He scored 659 points in his career and was All-District, All-Southern Conference and honorable mention All-American. He played professionally with the Washington Capitols in 1948, was an assistant coach at GW (1950-51) and head coach at Boston University (1952-59) and Massachusetts (1959-64). His 1958-59 BU team went 20-7 and reached the NCAA quarterfinals. Zunic passed away on December 15, 2006. |
