Athletics Communications

The Athletics Communications Office acts as liaison between the Department of Athletics and the media inside and outside the University community. But that is just one of many responsibilities handled by Athletics Communications.

In addition to this website, Athletics Communications publishes several forms of athletics-related communicative materials including media guides, schedule posters and schedule cards, game programs, preseason and postseason guides, a basketball yearbook and keeps all statistical and historical records for GW's 22 varsity sports.

The office produces and maintains the official site for Colonial athletics at www.GWsports.com. Media and fans can keep abreast of Colonials Athletics via the website, which provides schedules, results, statistics, live game statistics via GameTracker for several sports and live video streaming for most men's and women's basketball games as well as player and coach bios for each sport. Information regarding the athletic department, facilities and administrators is also available. Athletics Communications is also responsible for promoting student-athletes, coaches and teams for both athletic and academic honors.

Colonials teams are regularly featured in the Washington Post and Washington Times newspapers as well as USA Today. Hundreds of hometown newspapers of student-athletes also report on the accomplishments of their native sons and daughters. George Washington teams are also seen and heard on television and radio stations throughout the Washington metropolitan area as well as on ESPN, ESPN2, Fox Sports Network, Comcast SportsNet, CNN, CNBC, Verizon FiOS TV and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN). All told, Athletics Communications gets the word out on GW Athletics by maintaining timely contact with more than 300 media outlets worldwide.
