118 Student-Athletes Named to A-10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll
Women’s soccer leads with 17 honorees
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Atlantic 10 Conference announced on Tuesday that 118 GW student-athletes were among the league's 1,818 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2017 semester.
Combined with 123 honorees from the Fall 2016 semester, GW earned a total of 241 A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll distinctions for the 2016-17 academic year, while 52 student-athletes earned league All-Academic accolades.
The 1,818 honorees for the conference marked the fourth straight semester the total, as well as average per school, set league records. Including the fall semester numbers, there were a total of 3,581 honorees during 2016-17, the most in league history. Previously the single year record was 3,377, set in 2015-16.
To be recognized on the biannual Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must possess a 3.5 grade-point average or better (on a 4.0 scale) during the specified semester.
For the fourth consecutive semester, women's soccer boasted a GW-high 17 Commissioner's Honor Roll members, followed by women's rowing with 13, and men's and women's cross country/track with 11 each.
