Varsity Men's Coach Matt Boyle is in his third year with the GW Rowing program. He was promoted to head coach of the men's varsity in the summer of 2002.
During his first year as Novice coach, Boyle guided his crew to a 17-9 regular season record. The following season was highlighted by victories over Georgetown, Virginia, Marietta and an A-10 Champioship. The team also made the Grand Finals at the San Diego Crew Classic, the GW Invitational Crew Classic and the Dad Vail Regatta.
Prior to coaching at GW, Boyle spent a year as the novice menís coach at the University of North Carolina. While there, he guided his program to a fifth place finish at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships.
Boyle began his rowing career at the University of Central Florida in 1995 and transferred to GW in 1997. He was named MVP of the menís varsity team in 1999. He resides in Washington, DC.
