Novice Women's Coach
Samantha Byrd is in her third year as a coach for the GW Women's Rowing program, this being her first as the novice coach. Previously, she worked for two years as a graduate assistant to the GW women's program, primarily coaching the second and third varsity crews. A member of the 1998 GW Women's Varsity 8 that qualified for the NCAA Women's Rowing Championships, Byrd lead her crew to a No. 15 national ranking. She was named to the 1999 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division I Mid-Atlantic Region First Team.
Byrd earned an undergraduate degree in Political Science and then went on to participate in the Presidential Administrative Fellowship Graduate program at GW, earning a masters degree in Human Resource Development.
Byrd resides in Washington, DC.
