Varsity Men's Coach
Gene Kininmonth is in his third season as the GW men's varsity rowing coach. A 1990 graduate of Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, Kininmonth is responsible for coaching the GW men's varsity crew. During his first two seasons, his varsity crew has accumulated a 31-12 regular season record (.727) and last year were champions of the Atlantic 10 Invitational Regatta. In his first year at the helm of the GW Men’s Varsity squad, his crew capped off a great season by winning a silver medal in the varsity coxless four event at the 2000 IRA National Championships. Prior to coming to GW he was the head coach for the men's varsity rowing at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He also was the head coach for men's varsity rowing at UCLA during the 1991-92 season where he guided the Bruins' men's varsity eight to a second-place finish in the Pac-10 Championships and a seventh-place showing at the IRA National Collegiate Rowing Championships.
Kininmonth was a member of the Australian National Rowing Team in 1989 and a member of the Monash University's winning varsity eight at the Australian Collegiate Rowing Championships in 1989. Kininmonth is currently enrolled as an MBA student in the George Washington Business School and he resides in Washington, DC.
